INTRODUCTION

This course is suitable for anyone wanting a career in construction, specifically in the area of electrical installation.

T Levels are new two-year technical courses that will follow GCSEs or other Level 2 programmes. They are an alternative study option to other existing qualifications such as BTECs, A-Levels, and apprenticeships and provide progression routes into skilled and technical employment, higher or degree apprenticeships, or university.

These two-year courses have been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares you for work. They will offer students a mixture of classroom learning and ‘on-the-job’ experience during a 45-day industry placement that will give students practical insights into the sector and an opportunity to embed the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom. You will spend 70-80% of your time in the classroom and 20-30% on a high-quality work placement with an employer.

OVERVIEW

This T Level qualification in Building Services Engineering for Construction (Electrical Installation pathway) will allow students to develop specialist knowledge and skills on how to install, commission and maintain electrical and electronic systems.

In year one, you will develop your knowledge and understanding of the contexts, concepts and theories of the construction industry while in year two, you will specialise in Electrotechnical Engineering. Over both years, you will get the opportunity to put the knowledge and skills gained into action as you start your industry placement, working with an employer to develop your technical skills in a real-life construction environment.
