INTRODUCTION
If you are interested in pursuing a career in the field of mechanical, electrical or electronic engineering, then this is the course for you.
OVERVIEW
You will develop an understanding of the engineering principles, application and processes used in engineering. You will also extend the practical and work experience skills that you will have gained by completing a Level 2 extended certificate or diploma in Engineering.
You will be involved in studying mechanical, electrical and electronic principles and applications; in addition to communication techniques, engineering drawing and computer-aided design.
There will be an emphasis on working safely, whilst gaining knowledge of the tools, equipment, principles and processes that are used within the engineering industry alongside health and safety in the workplace.
Your work will be assessed, through the completion of assignments, projects, practical tasks and exams.
You will learn theoretical and practical skills of working in the workshop and electronics lab. You will also gain knowledge in engineering principles and applications as well as work experience skills.
CAREER PROGRESSION
You could progress to university (after completing Year 2) and study for a degree in either BEng (Hons) in Engineering and Technology, BEng (Hons) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering design and Aeronautical engineering or any other engineering degree on offer. Or you could opt to progress to an extended diploma.
Otherwise, you could move onto employment as a technical engineer in the field of mechanical, electrical or electronic engineering or an apprenticeship program.
Entry requirements
You need to complete the Level 2 diploma or extended certificate in Engineering before enrolling for this course. You will also need a minimum of 4/C in GCSE Maths and English.
Fees and funding
This course is free for students aged 16-18. The course fee for adults (19+) is TBC.
