INTRODUCTION

If you are looking to go to university and study for a degree such as the BEng (Hons) in Engineering and Technology, BEng (Hons) in Electronic Engineering, BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering design or progress onto employment as a technical engineer in the field of Mechanical or Electronic Engineering, then this course could be for you. You will also be able to pursue other engineering courses at the university.

OVERVIEW

You will develop your understanding of the engineering principles , application and processes used in engineering. You will also extend the practical skills that you will have gained by completing a Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Engineering.

You will be involved in studying mechanical, electrical and electronic principles and applications; in addition to communication techniques, engineering drawing and computer-aided design.

There will be an emphasis on working safely, whilst gaining knowledge of the tools, equipment, principles and processes that are used within the engineering industry alongside health and safety in the workplace.

Your work will be assessed, through the completion of assignments, projects, practical tasks and exams.

You will learn theoretical and practical skills of working in the workshop and electronics lab. You also will gain knowledge in engineering principles and applications as well as work experience skills.

CAREER PROGRESSION

You will be able to progress to employment or to Higher Education at degree level on a course such as BEng (Hons) in Engineering and Technology, BEng (Hons) in Electronic Engineering or BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering Design. You will also be able to pursue other engineering courses at the university.

Entry requirements

You need to complete the Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Engineering Year 1 before enrolling for this course.

Fees and funding

This course is free for students aged 16-18. The course fee for adults (19+) is TBC.
