London City Institute of Technology is a partnership between Queen Mary University of London and Newham College, with support from key employers, the Greater London Authority and the London Borough of Newham. We are one of the first twelve Institutes of Technology established nationally to provide employers with a highly skilled workforce and students with a clear route to technical employment.

London City Institute of Technology delivers high-quality technical qualifications in a range of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) subjects including engineering, digital and construction – critical sectors requiring investment as we rebuild the London economy post-pandemic. These qualifications include T Levels, higher and degree apprenticeships, degree programmes and higher technical qualifications.

Significant investments have been made in our industry-standard facilities at our purpose-built campus at London City Island. By embracing the latest technologies and spearheading innovative programmes and teaching methods, we can provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in these much sought-after technical roles and provide employers with a pipeline of next-generation talent.

By bringing together employers with further and higher education in a collaborative partnership, we can help plug local skills gaps, raise productivity, transform opportunities for local people and build the foundations for future prosperity in East London.

Join the STEM skills revolution.

IN PARTNERSHIP

Professor Colin Bailey CBE, President and Principal, Queen Mary University of London said: “We are thrilled to be establishing, with Newham College and our corporate partners, the London City Institute of technology – which will open the doors of opportunity for thousands of students for years to come.

“We are looking forward to bringing our world-leading research and teaching to this Institute of Technology and the vocational and technical qualifications it will deliver. The Institute’s innovative programmes will also help to fill skills gaps for employers in our part of London as well as leading to quality roles for many.

“Throughout Queen Mary’s history, we have remained committed to ensuring that an outstanding education is available for any student with the potential to succeed, no matter where they come from. For Queen Mary, this institute of Technology is a new chapter in that history.”

Paul Stephen, Principal and CEO, Newham College, said: “Newham College is delighted to be working in partnership with Queen Mary University and our many corporate partners to offer a new and engaging model of higher level, employer endorsed training pathways. These pathways will bridge the current skills gap within current and emerging in-demand technologies and will, in turn, provide higher levels of well-qualified applicants within the transport, infrastructure, engineering, digital and energy sectors.”
